Our Society is the family history society for the old county of Monmouthshire.
Conditions of sale
Goods are for personal research use only and may not be copied, lent, hired or resold to another party. Information must not be posted on any website.
Items for sale
We sell genealogy items for our area. These may be books, CDROMs or downloaded files. You can also purchase membership subscriptions and purchase search services.
Payments
Payments can be made by debit and credit cards or from PayPal accounts or by cheques and postal orders made payable to Gwent Family History Society.
When goods or services are purchased online from the society website, the transaction is performed by PayPal services and the Society does not receive the userβs financial details, such as credit card details.
Delivery
Orders are expected to be processed within ten working days but, as the Society is run entirely by volunteers, holiday arrangements, illness or other reasons, may occasionally prevent us from meeting this timescale.
We use the Royal Mail postal services.Β International delivery will be by airmail and the customer is responsible for payment of any Local Taxes and Import Duties levied in the country of the delivery address.
New members will receive an acknowledgement of their membership.
Cancellation Rights
In accordance with The Consumer Contracts Regulations, you may cancel your order and return goods up to 14 days from the receipt of your order. Confirmation of cancellation must be sent by email or letter to Sales Officer.
Exceptions
- CDROMS can only be returned if they are unopened and the seal is not broken.
- Downloaded files cannot be cancelled if they have been downloaded.
- Search fees cannot be refunded once search results have been sent to customers.
- Membership cannot be cancelled once the Members Area has been accessed.
Goods must be returned in the same condition as they were sent and must be in a fully saleable condition. The postage for returning the goods must be paid by the customer. The customer is advised to obtain a proof of posting certificate. A refund will be issued on receipt of the returned goods in their original condition.
Faulty Goods
If a CDROM does not work or a downloaded file cannot be opened, please contact us for advice. If goods are faulty, they will be replaced free of charge.
Privacy
We do not sell or supply the details of any person who is purchasing anything to any other person or organisation. We do not use the persons details to contact them about other products or suggestions.Β For full details of how the Society use your personal data, please see the Society’s Privacy Policy.
