Our summer months are always quiet. We have no meeting in August. In June we visited Chepstow Museum where the curator Annie Rainsbury gave us a talk about the variety of uses and occupants that this imposing building opposite the Castle has had over its life. Firstly a town house for one of the many merchants that lived near the source of industry and trade (the Severn), a doctor’s surgery, a WW1 recuperation hospital, then a general hospital, and finally the interesting little museum.
Our September meeting was as usual our Annual General Meeting, very poorly supported this time by our members. Brian Hopkins gave a little presentation about his research, and some lovely family photographs
Our first meeting (9thJanuary) of 2019 will be a members evening, and on February 13th we will welcome Jan Bowen who talk about Mathern Mill and her research into the working and its inhabitants.
