The barometer was set fair, and we were set for a trip to the NLW in Aberystwyth, pleased this time to have the company of some members from Newport, Ebbw Vale and Abergavenny.
A few hours of beautiful scenery, a glimpse of the sea, and we were there. Inside, the library was calm and quiet, and we made our way upstairs to the Family History Fair. Not your usual fair, with a bewildering choice of genealogical goodies, but a quiet, friendly gathering of mainly local stallholders, focussing on local matters. Perfect for those of us with roots in Ceredigion. And of course we had access to all of the Library’s vast store of records for the whole of Wales.
Also of great interest was a separate exhibition commemorating 100 years of Girl Guiding in Wales, including the beautiful Trefoil tapestry.
It seemed that we were soon on our way home again, enjoying that superb scenery once more through the drowsy late-afternoon sunshine.
Our thanks once more to our organizer Anne, and to Dorothy, who quietly kept us all in order.
