We usually lose 1 meeting every winter to the weather. The snow at the end of January coincided with our meeting date so we were forced to cancel that meeting.  The weather was much better for our end of Feb meeting and we were pleased to welcome some new faces and some we hadn’t seen for a while.

There has been some progress on our MI projects. A volunteer came forward to help with the retyping and another member is photographing gravestones.  There is also transcribing of the missing years from our Varteg Methodist burials database.  A new Blaenau Gwent Baptist Chapel Burial CD and an updated Cwmtillery burials CD is now available.

Our open day at St Cadoc’s church has been arranged for the early May Bank Holiday. The theme this time will be the 125th anniversary of the Llanerch explosion.  We are currently collecting information from burial registers, MIs and newspapers etc for a display.
