A Walk on the West Side Part One (St Woolos to the Ragged School) by Stella Evans

This month’s talk was a bit different. The audience of Newportonians probably thought that they knew most of the sights of the town but Stella proved them wrong. She gave a description of the various points in a seemingly routine walk from the Cathedral down Stow Hill to the Centre. The fascinating detail of the history of each stopping point- gave information new to most in the audience. This encouraged them to participate in the evening with their own reminiscences and so creating a very interesting evening- so much so that Stella has already been booked for Part Two next January.
