Do you have old papers and photographs, organisational papers etc. tucked away in your attic, shed, cupboard, under the stairs, basement or office and not quite sure what to do with them? This talk might help!
Gwent Archives is an accredited local authority archive service which collects and preserves the county’s history and ensures that they can be accessed both now and for future generations. The records are kept in our storage facilities and conform to the highest standards of archive care and storage, with the correct packaging and temperatures to ensure the records are kept in optimum condition. Our records include business records, local society and group records, and people’s personal papers such as diaries and letters.
This informal talk (complete with refreshments!) will explain the types of records we are interested in, why you can trust your records with Gwent Archives and will explain the depositing process.
This event will also include a talk from our Conservator on how to care for your records at home, and the opportunity to go behind the scenes and view our strongrooms and Conservation studio. Aimed at individuals, societies and organisations.

Gwasanaeth archifau awdurdod lleol achrededig yw Archifau Gwent, ac mae’n casglu ac yn diogelu hanes y sir i sicrhau bod modd gweld dogfennau nawr a gan genedlaethau’r dyfodol. Mae’r dogfennau’n cael eu cadw yn ein storfeydd sy’n cydymffurfio â’r safonau uchaf o ofal a storio archifau, gyda’r pecynnu a’r tymheredd cywir i sicrhau bod dogfennau’n cael eu cadw yn y cyflwr gorau posibl. Mae ein cofnodion yn cynnwys cofnodion busnes, cofnodion cymdeithasau a grwpiau lleol, a phapurau personol pobl, fel dyddiaduron a llythyron.
Bydd y sgwrs anffurfiol yma (gyda lluniaeth!) yn esbonio’r mathau o ddogfennau y mae gennym ddiddordeb ynddynt, a pham y gallwch ymddiried yn Archifau Gwent i ofalu am eich dogfennau, a bydd yn esbonio’r broses adneuo.
Bydd y digwyddiad hefyd yn cynnwys sgwrs gan ein Gwarchodwr ynglŷn â sut i ofalu am eich dogfennau gartref, a chyfle i fynd y tu ôl i’r llenni i weld ein hystafelloedd diogel a’n stiwdio Cadwraeth. Mae’r sgwrs i unigolion, cymdeithasau a sefydliadau.
