Chepstow – Schools and World War 1

Rhiannon Phillips an archivist from Gwent Archives came to talk, in March, about school records and their significance in researching events that would have affected the lives of the children. In these years of the 100 anniversary of World War 1 she paid particular attention to how the schools gave support to the men who were away fighting at the front. Some entries by the teachers showed that the children were knitting socks for the men, and women teachers were helping at hospitals by nursing injured men.
