On 28th February 2018, Rosemary gave us a talk about the locations along a 50 mile stretch on the Welsh side of The Severn Estuary. The area was, of course, well known to the audience but the talk was so interesting and informative and fully illustrated with Rosemary’s own photographs that we were all fascinated throughout. Many treasured memories were rekindled and amazingly much new information learnt. For example just two of the many gems: we heard of the amazing amounts of water still pumped out of the Severn Tunnel and what use is now made of it (making Budweiser and Stella Artois beer at Magor) and the role sheep played in helping the surgeons polish their skills of heart surgery at the old Sully Hospital – before operating on human patients.
