Blackwood – A Little Treasure Box

We all love to hear about other people’s successes with their family history, and know that often they are the result of many hours spent staring at the screen on a little black box.But this month we heard about the treasure found in a little black tin box. It came to one of our branch members after the death of her grandfather, and contained a small collection of documents, cards and mementoes. These beautifully preserved items provided names, dates and locations – even addresses, and set her on a great journey of discovery. They lead her first to London, and then to Greenock in Scotland, where she was able to walk in the footsteps of her ancestors, and discover connections with Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. What priceless treasure.

A reminder to renew our searches in the attic. Better still, in Granny’s attic.
